Will Junk Science Rule Over Tested and Proven Science?

April 10, 2013

Insight into the world of the far left on global warming (aka, climate change), isn’t pretty.  Rhetoric has become even more strident as momentum continues to build for the U.S. to develop a comprehensive climate policy for the first time since 2010.  Activists intent on advancing man made global warming as undisputed fact are on the alert and head the firing line as they confront and seek to destroy global warming skeptics who managed to derail global warming legislation in the past.

The Left believes it has the momentum on climate change.  Why is this?  Has the Left found hope in President Obama’s post/election campaign stops as he crisscrosses the U.S. where his talk is of climate change?  But will Obama’s politicking be enough to remove the obstacles global warming activists will likely face from legislators in the current House and Senate? Furthermore, how detrimental was it to the Left when in 2008 Al Gore was hailed as their chief spokesperson in what was thought to a major advantage with an assured victory, but which didn’t pan out?

There are two very plain signs among climate change advocates that speak to confidence in their mission to force climate change and its devastating resultant policies upon the American people:

1)  Alarmists refuse to acknowledge the existence of Climate Change Reconsidered, which they would acknowledge and try to rebut if it was really about the science. Climate Change Reconsidered is an 880-page rebuttal of the Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that was three years in the making.  It was released in June 2009 by The Heartland Institute based in Chicago, Illinois.  It provides an independent examination of the evidence available on the causes and consequences of climate change in the published, peer-reviewed literature examined without bias and selectivity.  http://heartland.org/policy-documents/climate-change-reconsidered

2) Alarmists refuse to attend Heartland’s international conferences on climate change which they would otherwise be wise to do.  The simple truth is that their science can’t be defended. They don’t bother trying to  defend it, because it simply doesn’t matter to them.  Heartland has organized and hosted eight International Conferences on Climate change since 2008, events that attracted extensive international attention to the debate taking place in the scientific community over the causes, extend, and consequences of climate change.  Two of the conferences were held in Chicago, Illinois.  Coverage of both were ignored by Chicago area newspapers, including the “Chicago Tribune.”   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Heartland_Institute – 125k

It is a given that alarmists would support carbon taxes, tax and trade, smart growth, CAFÉ standards, bans on exploration on public lands, etc. etc. etc. even if it was clear we had entered the next ice age.  Because global warming is just a slogan for them, banner words and headlines noting the latest “crisis of the month” are being used to frighten the public into supporting their agenda.

It’s also telling that the almost-universal way environmentalists refer to climate change is that they “believe in global warming.” Not that they “understand” it.  Is it enough to believe in global warming while making no attempt at all to understand it?

An excellent article on the state of the global warming is one by Rich Lowry, in which he calls believers in climate change “deniers.”  Admittedly, Lowry makes no bones about, nor is he apologetic over his siding with those known as skeptics in the eyes of believers (a role reversal).   In paragraph two Rich Lowry bemoans:  “The new climate deniers are the liberals who, despite their obsession with climate change, have managed to miss the biggest story in climate science, which is that there hasn’t been any global warming for about a decade and a half.”    http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/344426/new-climate-deniers-r… – 106k

Despite the absence of global warming, deniers continue to speak as if it is still the late 1990s, a time when global temperature measurements had been rising for two decades.  Moreover, they continue to feel the same righteous sense of certitude about global warming despite the absence of it.  In the minds of deniers, something caused warming as the Earth is warmer than it used to be, so people must be to blame!

As to this nation’s future should the Obama administration and environmentalist advocates continue to treat man-made global warming as fact, elevating speculation above the scientific method sans an enlightened global warming voter backlash, consider this recent article in the American Thinker.   http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/04/global_warming_oops_never_mi…

“Humanity crossed from superstition to the scientific era when Sir Francis Bacon publicized “The Scientific Method.”  This requires hard data from controlled experiments, which are independently repeated.  But we now have “science by press release.”  Political activists calling themselves scientists offer raw opinion and speculation.  And now Western civilization is in deep trouble.  We are sinking back into superstition, in which elite priests tell us what to think.

As the embarrassment of climate change “science” grows, will there be calls and congressional hearing on the sorry state of science education in our nation’s schools?  How could so many people abandon “The Scientific Method” grounded on hard experimental data in favor of pure speculation?  Are our schools teaching science, or myths?”

May voters wake up in time to realize that the Democratic Party was lying to them and respond accordingly in the 2014 and 2016 elections with a voter backlash.

As for the true and unflappable believers in global warming, human nature tells us that they will be the last to admit that they were wrong, if ever!
