Thorner/Ingold: Good News on Spread of Coronavirus

A CNN headline on May 22, 2020 read, CDC estimates that 35% of coronavirus patient don’t have symptoms. The article by Arman Azad was based on new guidance for mathematical modelers and public health official from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In summary, the CDC finds that 36% of the individuals testing positive for COVID-19 were asymptomatic. Under CDC guidelines, only those showing symptoms of COVID-19 are eligible for testing. Random data of this sort is trickling in now that employees are being tested in order to return to their workplace, where the percentage is as high as 86%.

Bad news for checking the spread of coronavirus?  Not so fast.

Statistics clarified

Current data suggests that only about 10% of COVID-19 are symptomatic. Of those only about 1% will require hospitalization 0.4% will die. If we add the asymptomatic cases to the denominator, this means the death rate for all COVID-19 infections is on the order of 0.04%, 4 per 100,000, nearly the same as seasonal influenza.

While the basic data suggests that these asymptomatic “carriers” can infect others, nearly all of these “others” will be asymptomatic as well.

Considering the population of the US, about 330 million, 0.04% is still a large number, 132,000 deaths to be specific. However, the more people infected, the fewer left susceptible to the disease. With such a big number of “carriers”, herd immunity will occur within weeks, as defined when a large percentage of a population has become immune to an infection, whether through vaccination or previous infection.

Once half the population has been infected and recovered, COVID-19 will not go away, but new infections will fall to a trickle unless the virus mutates significantly, which is not typical with coronaviruses. That’s why the SARS epidemic of 2003 ended before a vaccine could be developed.

Liberal spin

Meanwhile, the liberal media will take this as bad news, assuming most people never get past the headline, as did the Los Angeles Times in an article dated May 26, 2020, when experts warned of an increasing concern that people infected with COVID-19 who show no signs of illness are playing a large role in the transmission of COVID-19.

This sounds like Left Wing Misrepresentation, good news characterized as bad. “Oh my!  35% of the population is infected and infectious. How will we ever track them all?”

The short answer is “You can’t”, and it is futile to try. If we attempt to track people, privacy goes out the door. It is the same tactic being used by the Chinese Communists, yet beloved by the Left in the U.S., against those who are presently protesting in Hong Kong.

Might the Los Angeles Times article further be part of a calculated ploy by the Left to convince Americans that states whose governors are being too hasty in opening their states will be the cause (and by proxy President Trump), of a new surge of the virus in the fall, theorizing that those individuals who are infected with COVID-19, yet show no signs, will lead to a new fall surge?

None other than media darling Dr. Anthony Fauci, told CNNs Jim Sciutto on May 15, in remarks made in the Rose Garden of the White House, “We often talk about the possibility of a second wave, or of an outbreak when you’re reopening. We don’t have to accept that as an inevitability,” he explained. “When people start thinking about the fall, I want people to really appreciate that it could happen, but it is not inevitable.”

• Stanford professor John Ioannidis explains in an interview with CNN that Covid19 is a “widespread and mild disease” comparable to influenza (flu) for the general population, while patients in nursing homes and hospitals should receive extra protection
• Stanford professor Scott Atlas explains in an interview with CNN that “the idea of having to stop Covid19 has created a catastrophic health care situation”. Professor Atlas says that the disease is “generally mild” and that irrational fears had been created. He adds that there is “absolutely no reason” for extensive testing in the general population, which is only necessary in hospitals and nursing homes. Professor Atlas wrote an article at the end of April entitled “The data are in – Stop the panic and end total isolation” that received over 15,000 comments.
• Epidemiologist Dr Knut Wittkowski explains in a new interview that the danger of Covid19 is comparable to an influenza and that the peak was already passed in most countries before the lockdown. The lockdown of entire societies was a “catastrophic decision” without benefits but causing enormous damage. The most important measure is the protection of nursing homes. According to Dr. Wittkowski, Bill Gates’ statements on Covid19 are “absurd” and “have nothing to do with reality”. Dr. Wittkowski considers a vaccination against Covid19 “not necessary” and the influential Covid19 model of British epidemiologist Neil Ferguson a “complete failure”. • German virologist Hendrik Streeck explains the final results of his pioneering antibody study. Professor Streeck found a Covid19 lethality of 0.36%, but explains that this is an upper limit and the lethality is probably in the range of 0.24 to 0.26% or even below. The average age of test-positive deceased was approximately 81 years. Professor Streeck argues that “waiting for a vaccine” is not a good strategy because both the feasibility and effectiveness of a vaccine are uncertain.
• Biology professor and Nobel Prize winner Michael Levitt, who has been analyzing the spread of Covid19 since February, describes the general lockdown as a “huge mistake“and calls for more targeted measures, especially to protect risk groups.
• The emeritus microbiology professor Sucharit Bhakdi explains in a new interview that politics and the media have been conducting an “intolerable fear-mongering” and an “irres­pon­sible disinformation campaign”. According to professor Bhakdi, face masks for the general population are not needed and may in fact be harmful “germ catchers”. The current crisis was brought about by the politicians themselves and has little to do with the virus, he argues, while a vaccine against coronavirus is “unnecessary and dangerous”, as was already the case with swine flu. The WHO has “never taken responsibility for its many wrong decisions over the years”, professor Bhakdi adds. (Note: The video was temporarily deleted by YouTube).
• The Swiss chief physician for infectiology, Dr. Pietro Vernazza, explains in a new interview that the Covid19 disease is “mild for the vast majority of people” and the “counting of infected people and the call for more tests” aren’t helpful. In addition, most of the people listed in the corona statistics did not die solely from Covid-19. According to Dr. Vernazza, there is no evidence for the benefit of face masks in people who do not show symptoms themselves (archive).

Thorner: Former CIA officer reveals Islam’s Influence in America

Clare Lopez, a former CIA officer, is a strategic policy and intelligence expert with a focus on Middle East, national defense, WMD, and counter terrorism issues. On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, she held a Zoom meeting on specific areas of expertise, including Islam and Iran. Ms. Lopez writes for The United West organization.

During the span of two hours, Ms. Lopez covered two topics of great importance. The first topic, Bully of Asia, dealt with China and the coronavirus.

This article deals with the second part of Lopez’s lecture based on an abstract of a 45-page paper written by Ioan Pop and Mitchell D. Silber, published online May 13, 2020: Iran and Hezbollah’s Pre-Operational Modus Operandi in the West. The authors served in the NYPD Intelligence Division from 2005 – 2015.

Ms. Lopez informed, as background to Pop’s and Silber’s article, that Iran remains responsible for what its militias did and what they also did under Iran’s control.

As to what happened in Iraq, Iran is using the IRGC’s Qods Force division to back, create, fund and train Iranian “proxies.” When Quds Force came into Iraq and started to attack bases that killed U.S. and other coalition troops, that was the trigger point for President Trump to go after the IRGC-Quds Force leader, Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. Soleimani was killed in a drone strike at Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

So it was that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called for “forceful revenge” to avenge Soleimani’s death. Likewise, Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hizballah, called on Hizballah operatives globally to carry out “the appropriate punishment,” stating that this “be the responsibility and task of all resistance fighters worldwide.”

Although the revenge might not be immediate, expressed with certainty was that Hizballah operatives are now here on American soil planning a revenge for Soleimani’s death.

And why should Iran be concerned about its operatives placed here in this nation? Even though Iran was responsible for 9/11, no one was ever held accountable. Iran feels impervious to anything happening should operatives be uncovered, even though there are many reports of arrests and even prosecutions in Court here in the U.S. of Iranian and Hizballah operative who were tried, have been found guilty, and are now serving prison time.

As to preoperational modus operandi of Iran and Hizballah, Lopez sets forth the seven modus of operandi stated in the article by Pop and Silber, based on their analysis of Iran and Hizballah’s past operations, foiled plots, the recent U.S. arrests of Hizballah’s operatives, and their personal experience leading Iran and Hizballah intelligence investigations for NYPD.

Each mode of operation is briefly discussed by Clare Lopez. Learn much more about each of the seven modes by reading the entire 45-page abstract written by Ioan Pop and Mitchell D. Silber.

1. Intelligence gathering and surveillance activities: Iran and Hizballah have a sustained commitment to undertake precise intelligence gathering and surveillance activities on targets that could support long-term attack planning. Said Lopez, “They are even better than we are in intelligence gathering.”

U.S. surveillance is being done at Jewish facilities and also of Israeli diplomats and their families at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., as well consulates around the country.

Iranian gathering and surveillance activities have extended beyond New York City. In November of 2019, two men, one with dual U.S. Iranian citizen, and the other an Iranian citizen residing in CA, pleaded guilty to acting as illegal agents of the government of Iran on criminal charges stemming from monitoring two Jewish facilities in Chicago.

2. Plausible diplomatic, business, education and other covers to conceal operational activities: Iran/HZB operatives use the “cover” of local immigrant populations, businesses and Islamic Centers/Mosques, where they can blend in with with those who are not committed to working against this nation.

In New York City an Iranian was arrested for having effectively been a front for the government of Iran through the Alavi Foundation, a nonprofit ostensibly devoted to charity works and promoting Persian and Islamic culture, but which belongs to the IRGC.

3. Infiltration of Iranian dissident groups: Iranian security agencies use a wide range of tactics to safeguard the regime. MEK (People’s Mujahedin of Iran) and NCRI (National Council of Resistance of Iran) were cited as two dissident group that the Iranian regime and its intelligence services are trying to get inside of (infiltrate) to cause mayhem.

4. Logistical planning for possible future attacks: There is a unit within Hizballah known as 910 that is doing long range planning for future attacks. As was discovered in the UK, Thailand, and Cypress, stockpiles of huge quantities of aluminum nitrate (component of building bombs) were being assembled into what looked like first aid ice packs. Those responsible were caught and went on trial. So far no one has been caught in this nation doing the same.

5. Preparing “human target packages” to enable assassinating dissidents and adversaries: Target packages consist of a file of information that enable an intelligence of military unit to find, fix, track, and neutralize a threat. It might include information collected about an individual, or it could include “capture/kill operations.

In this nation, two Iranian-linked individuals operating in Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C., focused on human targeting packages that could be used to identify and locate individuals related to MEK and their supporters, even if they were members of Congress.

There is no specific information that the Iranians were targeting any members of Congress, but a number of them certainly are open, known supporters of the MEK/NCRI.

6. Counter-intelligence tradecraft, and operational security: Those involved are not uneducated people. They are university educated with advanced degrees. A Lebanese with dark hair and eyes might pass for a Hispanic. A stop in Venezuela (home to many Hizballah) would enable him to learn Spanish. [As to why Hizballah is the preferred spelling rather than Hezbollah, Ms. Lopez explained: Hizballah is two words combined. “Hizb” in Arabic means “Party” and “Allah”, of course, is God, so their name spelled this way is obviously “Party of God.” The meaning is lost if the Hizballah way of spelling is used.]

Unit 910 members use strict communications protocol such as coded e-mails and the use of flash/USB drives, one of which was concealed in a toy on a key chain.

7. Recruiting operatives with dual nationalities and Western passports from the Shia diaspora: Iran and Hizballah have a history of recruiting operatives globally, preferably those who have Western passports. The arrests of the reported Hizballah Unit 910 operatives, Ali Kourani, Samer el-Debek, and Alexei Saab in the U.S., reinforces the idea that Hizballah focuses its external recruitment on individuals residing in the West with dual nationalities and access to Western passports.

Marriage to a U.S. citizen is also used to gain access to a green card and eventually a U.S. passport.

Question and Answers posed by participants to Ms. Lopez

Question 1: How likely is it that political candidates are being recruited by operatives?

Response: Ms. Lopez doesn’t believe elected officials are being recruited by operatives, but they could be backed, supported, and funded to win public office by nefarious elements.

Question 2: What makes Hizballah so good at intelligence gathering?

Response: Said Lopez, Hizballah was trained by the Iranians who were, in turn, trained by the Russians (KGB), as was Hizballah. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, this nation took its eye off the ball. We had won the war. Now it was on to the “peace dividend.” Funds were cut for the intelligence community. President Bill Clinton cut funds for the military.

Then came 9/11 which this nation was totally unprepared for. G.W. Bush did as good a job as he possibly could have done, but he was clueless about Islam, Iran, Hizballah, or jihad, which 9/11 was the result of. Bush’s entire administration was penetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood, which remain deeply embedded in our government today at all levels.

Question 3: Tell us more about the Great Purge?

Response: Ms. Lopez spoke of this taking place during the middle of 2000 under the G.W. Bush administration. Bush was co-opted by the Muslim Brotherhood, and he didn’t even know it. It was during this time when the vocabulary began to change. Because of the Brotherhood, the words Islam and the Brotherhood were words no longer acceptable to use. Instead, the term to be used was Countering Violent Extremism, which came to mean those who defended the 2nd Amendment, protesters at abortion clinics, and returning veterans from battle.

Quite telling is that at this year’s National Day of Prayer held in the White House Rose Garden on May 7, U.S. Army Islamic Chaplain Lt. Col. Ibraheem Raheem prayed, https://www.deseret.com/faith/2020/5/7/21251082/trump-prayer-mormon-catholic-muslim-evangelical-jews-white-house as did First Lady Melania Trump, for the pandemic’s victims and their families, as well as those fighting for their lives now.

In the past always invited was Imam Mohammad Majid, formerly President of ISNA (Islamic Society of North America), an MB front group. He remains the Imam of the ADAMS Center (All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center), hub of MB operations in the WDC metro area. He would recite the Fatihah,1st Sura of the Qur’an, that contains the offensive verse asking Allah to condemn Christians & Jews, but spoken in Arabic, nobody knew what he was saying.

As to the Islam doctrine vs. the U.S. Constitution, Sharia is not compatible with American law.

Ms. Lopez apologized for the riveting and disturbing nature of her lecture, further acknowledging it was better knowing what was going on than not.

Thorner: How Mail-In Ballots will end fair and free elections

Our Democratic Republic flourishes when citizens are confident their vote is free, fair, and secure.  According to a recent survey, 81% of Americans believe that election fraud is a very real problem.

This growing concern jeopardizes our entire system of government, eroding our trust in elected leaders and undermining our confidence in the system by which they govern, beginning at the polls and rising up through the highest offices in the land, despite the misleading messaging of those who insist voter fraud does not exist. It does!

On Sunday, May 17th, Thorner was invited to join a webinar by host James Simpson, featuring Catherine Englebrecht of True the Vote at 6:30 pm EDT.A conservative Republican, Simpson is running in U.S. House District 2 in Maryland against six other competitors in his primary race.

According to Simpson, it is critical to win back the GOP majority in the House of Representatives. As to this November’s election, it could very well be the most important election in this country’s history.

As described by Jim Simpson, Ms. Englebrecht is one of the biggest fighters on the conservative side. She created True the Vote from “whole cloth” and has been through the mill for our cause.  In 2011 she won the Ronald Reagan Award at CPAC.

Englebrecht, as founder of True the Vote, explains here the history of True the Vote, and her reasons for beginning the initiative.

 

Englebrecht’s presentation

Ms. Englebrecht presented an update on the threats to our electoral system and the left’s attempts to change it and, of course, CHEAT.  Her main item of discussion was how the Secretaries of State around this nation are imposing universal mail-in voting by administrative fiat, which consequently removes safeguards against fraudulent voters; usurps the legislature; and violates citizens’ constitutional rights.

The push by states to have all mail-in ballots is happening because of the rapid-fire change of the elector process prompted by the coronavirus. To paraphrase Ms. Englebrecht: “The Left plays the long game inch by inch.  We have now arrived at the end game. Through administrative fiat police power, mail in ballots are being mandated by states. This has resulted in so many individual lawsuits being filed that the system can’t keep up with them.  Likewise of concern is that the push for mail-in ballots is being mandated in many places that are not equipped or even prepared to handle them.”

Given the amount of litigation happening all over this nation, Englebrecht believes Vote by Mail could end up in the Supreme Court.”

President Trump is aware of the possibility and likelihood of fraud with mail-in ballots. On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, President Donald Trump threatened to request to hold federal funding to Michigan and Nevada over widespread mail voting schemes.

 

Mail-in Ballots

Mail-in ballots allow voting rolls to be inflated, as ballot are send to everyone, even inactive voters, those who have moved, and the deceased whose names have not been removed from a state’s voting rolls.

Not surprising is that vote fraud often targets the most vulnerable voters, including the elderly and the poor.

Absentee ballots have therefore become the tools of choice of election fraudsters, because they are voted outside the supervision of election officials, making it easier to steal, forge, or alter them, as well as to intimidate voters.

Going entirely to by-mail elections would unwisely endanger the security and integrity of the election process, particularly if officials automatically mail absentee ballots to all registered voters without a signed, authenticated request from each voter.

In this age of Amazon when things are just one click away, two out of three Americans have been convinced that mail-in ballots are more convenient.

 

Ms. Englebrecht referred to the political strategy of Cloward/Piven to compare what happened 54 years ago to today’s push for nation-wide mail-in ballots. Their strategy was outlined in a May 1966 article in the liberal magazine The Nationtitled, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty”, as a way to create an orchestrated crisis to collapse the American system — one that would bear down with such intensity that the system had no better option but to crash.

Given a tsunami of mail-in ballots, there would be no way to manage so much paper in a system not set up for it.

Ballot harvesting

Ms. Englebrecht also touched on the issue of ballot harvesting.  Ballot harvesting first came into play when ACORN, a community-based advocacy organization, founded in 1970 and shut down in 2010, when facing allegations of vote fraudrelated to voter registration drives conducted by the organization. ACORN conducted large-scale voter registration drives. The organization said it helped register more than 1.3 million new voters in 21 states in 2007 and 2008.

Ballot harvesting is now legal in some states and a way for Democrats to commit fraud. Ballots are picked up, distributed and then turned in. Groups are being funded to do ballot harvesting.  The elderly as sitting ducks for vote harvesters.

As for Virginia’s Voter ID provision, Voter ID was declared illegal by Governor Northam.  It was then mandated that all residents were to be declared disabled to legitimize all mail-in ballots because of coronavirus.

It is unconscionable that we are the only industrial nation in the world that doesn’t have a form of voter ID.  Previously referred to as authors of the May,1966 article, The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty, Clower/Piven opened up this nation to the mess we have today with our voter rolls.

Richard Cloward, along with and his wife, Frances Fox Piven, were the primary motivator for the passage of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 known as “Motor Voter” National Registration Act law, which took them 10 years to write.  It opened up this nation to the mess we have today and remains the standard because messed up voter rolls can be manipulated for political gain.

 

Personal responsibility and action

In closing, Ms. Englebrecht stressed that voting this year is not enough. She advised listeners to get on Ballot Review Boards and to be poll watchers, acknowledging that being a poll worker involves a long day and not many states allow for shift poll workers. Englebrecht does think Trump will be served well by having Mark Meadows as his Chief of Staff.  She also related how Trump does read comments that appear on the White House comment site.

The November election depends on us.  It really is the end game.  Left to their own devises, the Left will chew us up and spit us out.  We must be doers in this all-important November election.

Thorner: Will the US learn from Canada’s serious coronavirus blunder?

The idea for this article originated from a YouTube lecture shared with me by Canadian scientist Tom Harris. Harris presented his lecture titled, Covid-l9 in Canada: A Serious Blunder, from his home in Ottawa, Canada, on April 30, 2020.  At the time, Harris was stuck at home because of Covid-19; however, a recent communication with Harris informed me, “We are in partial lock down. Some businesses are starting to open up.”

Harris is Executive Director of the Ottawa, Canada-based International Climate Science Coalition, and a policy advisor to The Heartland Institute. He has 40 years of experience as a mechanical engineer/project manager, science and technology communications professional, technical trainer and S&T advisor to a former Opposition Senior Environment Critic in Canada’s Parliament.

As with our northern neighbor, the situation in Canada is strikingly similar to the scenario now playing out with the coronavirus pandemic in the US, in particular Illinois.

 

Tom Harris’ transcribed lecture – Covid-l9 in Canada:  A Serious Blunder

Hello, my name is Tom Harris. I’m talking to you from Ottawa, Canada on April 30, 2020. Like most Canadians, I’m stuck at home because we’re on national shutdown because of COVID-19. But our governments are flying blind on this disease. They have no idea how many Canadians are infected or what the true mortality rate is. The shutdown of Canada may be a huge mistake.

But before I explain why, I’d like to start with an analogy.

Imagine that following a rash of accidents on the 401 Highway, the government decided they had to figure out if they would close the highway to everything except essential traffic. To determine how safe the highway really was, they chose to sample a group of drivers who had often used the highway. The survey showed that 3% of them had been involved in serious accidents in the last year.

Now, when they plugged this data into computerized transportation models, they found that they could forecast that tens of thousands of people would be involved in serious accidents on the 401 over the next year. And, in fact, there would be a death rate of 5%, according to their models. Of course, if this happened, it would flood our hospitals with emergency cases, and it would seriously compromise our health care system.

When the survey and the computer model forecasts were released to the press, headlines followed in newspapers across the province: “401 Death Trap – we must close the Highway or thousands will die.” Not surprisingly, governments responded quickly and closed the highway to keep us safe, they said. But the consequences of the shutdown were horrific for industries and companies and stores which used the 401 as their vital communications and transportation artery. Also, millions of people were left unemployed. But the government would say, “We must listen to the transportation experts or thousands will die!”

But then somebody noticed something strange about the survey – the drivers questioned for the poll were those who had been before the courts with traffic violations. The average, mostly safe and law-abiding drivers were not involved in the survey at all. So, no one knew what the actual fatality rate really was. The study, and the government’s actions, were based on nonsense.

 

The COVID-19 health emergency scenario

Now, if you think such a scenario is too silly to happen in the real world, then think again – because to a certain extent, this is essentially what’s happened in the COVID-19 health emergency that we’re in right now.

You see, the federal government says that, of the 800,000 Canadians who have been tested for the virus to this point, about 51,600 tested positive. Now, that’s about 6.5% of the total number tested. We are also told that about 3,000 people have died of the disease, and that would be 5.8% of those who tested positive. And, of course, that’s a far higher mortality rate than people who die after contracting the flu, which is typically about one in one thousand, or 0.1%. Now, of the total population tested so far for COVID-19, it turns out that about 0.4% of those have actually passed away. Again, this is far higher than percentage of people who die across Canada due to Influenza and pneumonia. And, if you think about it, if 0.4% of Canadians died due to this virus COVID-19, we would see a catastrophe with over 100 thousand deaths.

And, it is exactly this kind of scenario that has frightened people and, in particular, led to headlines across the media and the governments shutting down the economy, throwing millions of people out of work,  business failures  and a society frozen in fear.

 

Challenging the input data

But have you noticed something unusual about the input data to these models? Just as in the case of the hypothetical 401 accidents scenario, Ontario, for example, is only testing people who have symptoms of COVID-19 or people who support them such as health care and first responders. The general population are not being tested at all. So, this means that the government really has no idea of the total number of Canadians who are infected with the disease. Now, when you’re calculating mortality rates, that number would of course go the denominator. So, what it really means is that, instead of 5.8% of those infected dying, as is the case of those who have been tested so far with coronavirus, it could be that there’s only a tenth as many, or a 1/100 ^th.  Because the amount of people who are in the population who have the virus and show no symptoms could be much higher. In fact, in Italy, in one noted study, they found up to 75% of people who had the virus had no symptoms. So no one really knows unless they do a special kind of survey what the real fatality rate is. And, that’s what I want to speak to you about.

 

Scientists around the world are concluding that random testing across entire populations should be used to get a clear picture of the overall infection rate and the mortality rate of the virus in a nation. By randomly testing a large enough group of people across a region, you’re able to get sample results that are indicative of what would happen across the whole country if you could test everybody. This is not rocket science. This is done all the time in national polls to do with politics and various other fields.

If a national random sample was carried out, epidemiologists would learn much more than the total number of coronavirus cases and the virus’s fatality rate in Canada. They would also find out the number of people who are infected but not sick, and, as I said, that’s a crucially important statistic to have if you’re going to try to determine how deadly COVID-19 really is and whether a complete shutdown of society actually makes any sense.

There have been some cases in the world where they have actually done random sampling. For example, in a hot spot in Germany, a hot spot being a place where they had lots of virus contagion. And a hot spot in California, particularly in Santa Clara. They also did it for the complete countries of Iceland and Denmark. And they found that, in all these cases, the death rate appears to be no more than the seasonal flu rate for people who catch the disease. This is supported by studies carried out by Stanford University epidemiologist John Loannidis who concludes that the WHO has overestimated the fatality rate of COVID-19.

 

An economic shutdown blunder 

So, our governments have shut down the nation’s economy and ordered the self-isolation of millions of Canadian based on the output of models with woefully incomplete input data.  It is truly a case of garbage in, garbage out, on this computer model.

Loannidis made an analogy of what our leaders may have done if it turns out, as seems likely the case, that the real danger from this virus is really quite low. He said,  “It’s like an elephant being attacked by a house cat. Frustrated and trying to avoid the cat, the elephant accidentally jumps off a cliff and dies.”

Well, thank goodness, Canada has not died yet, so let’s do proper sampling, random sampling across the population before we do entirely jump off the cliff.

Important articles about the coronavirus blunder in America

As Fox News reported on May 16, 2020, the widely-used coronavirus model by Professor Neil Ferguson, the virus modeler from Imperial College London who predicted 2.2 million U.S. deaths, was panned by experts as a piece of garbage.  The United States also used the model, which predicted upwards of 2.2 million deaths in the US without proper action. The prediction helped influence the White House to adopt a more serious approach to the pandemic.

Dr. Scott Atlas, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute, shares his five key points on treating the coronavirus in his article, The Data Are In Stop the Panic and End the Total Isolation.

• Fact 1 : The overwhelming majority of people do not have any significant risk of dying from COVID-19.
• Fact 2: Protecting older, at-risk people eliminates hospital overcrowding.
• Fact 3: Vital population immunity is prevented by total isolation policies, prolonging the problem.
• Fact 4: People are dying because other medical care is not getting done due to hypothetical projections.
• Fact 5: We have a clearly defined population at risk who can be protected with targeted measures.

When the State shuts down millions of private businesses but doesn’t lay off a single government employee, it’s not about your health.

When the State puts YOU in a jail cell for walking in a park with your child because it’s too dangerous but lets CRIMINALS out of jail cells for their health, it’s not about your health.

When the State tells you it’s safe to go to Home Depot, but too dangerous to go to your local hobby store, it’s not about your health.

When the State prevents you from buying cucumber seeds because it’s dangerous, but allows in person lottery ticket sales, it’s not about your health.

When the State tells you it’s dangerous to go golfing alone, fish alone or be in a motor boat alone, but the Governor can get his stage makeup done and hair done for five TV appearances a week, it’s not about your health.

When the State bans dental visits because it’s unsafe, but deems abortions safe, it’s not about your health.

When the State tells you it’s too dangerous to get treated by a doctor of chiropractic or physical therapy treatments yet deems a liquor store essential, it’s not about your health.

When the State lets you go to the grocery store or hardware store but is demanding mail-in voting, it’s not about your health.

Since the 1960’s government schools have progressively moved toward social-justice teachings and away from instruction extolling the blessings of liberty as bestowed upon this nation by our Founding Fathers. What should be of great concern is how the current Chinese COVID-19 dilemma is now being used as a testing ground to see how much socialism Americans are willing to put up with and for how long.

Because so many Americans are being unnecessarily driven to hysteria, this fear needs to continue for our nation to undergo the changes desired by the Left; expressly, that socialist controls are necessary to save lives.

COVID-19 will eventually fade out, but will some of the draconian measures handed down also end?

Globalist activism exposed

Under the guise of fighting the coronavirus, globalists are instituting policies that will effectively bring about global government, invasive surveillance, and unending personal control.

In this excellent and poignant commentary by Dr. Jay Lehr & Tom Harris of May 12th, 2020, Today’s COVID Dictators Dishonor Heroes of Past Generations, the authors unmask people like billionaires George Soros, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg, who are promoting globalism in contrast to Trump’s “America First” policy.

Dr. Jay Lehr is Senior Policy Analyst with the Ottawa, Canada-based International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) and former Science Director of The Heartland Institute. Canadian Tom Harris is Executive Director of ICSC, and a policy advisor to Heartland.

So, they will stop at nothing to destroy him and drive him out of office. Just look at their botched effort to impeach the President on bogus grounds.

“Those who hold Schumer and Pelosi responsible for the attempt to get rid of Trump either by portraying him as a Russian agent for the benefit of Robert Mueller, or impeaching him on trumped-up charges related to Ukraine, are being too easily distracted. Schumer and Pelosi are merely the henchmen of globalist thugs. They know how unimportant they actually are.

“The pundits at Fox News make a big deal out of left-leaning law professor Alan Dershowitz just because he expresses respect for the U.S. Constitution. As a result, they love to roll Dershowitz out as an example of an open-minded liberal, and never embarrass him by asking why, as a supporter of the Constitution, he voted twice for Barack Obama and once for Hillary Clinton.

“Pundits and politicians have been comparing the current virus crisis to waging war. This is terribly insulting to those who actually went to war to defend our freedoms. . .

“A century later, we are at also war. But it is not primarily against the virus or, thank God, anyone trying to machine gun or bayonet us or leave us to die dangling on barbed wire . We are at war against the globalists who wish to deprive us of our freedoms and other rights that soldiers like Sgt. Savage fought and died for.

“Every politician who has taken advantage of COVID-19 to grant themselves dictatorial powers previous generations of free men and women risked their lives to defend against should be roundly condemned by all thinking people. They must be removed from office the next time they appear on a ballot, if not sooner.”

Assault on Economic Freedom
Alex Newman, foreign correspondent for The New American, had this to say in his article published in the April 20, 2020 edition of The New American: Coronavirus, Deep State Assault on Economic Freedom. Excerpts follow:

“Using the panic over the coronavirus as a pretext, the Deep State is working overtime to fundamentally transform society—especially the economic front, which is being peddled as a supposed solution or treatment for the Chinese virus.”

President Trump signed a $2 trillion “stimulus” with promises to shower taxpayer cash on big businesses, small businesses, state and local governments, and even individuals, but as Newman wrote, “Where that money was supposed to come from was hardly discussed—especially odd considering the $23 trillion national debt, not counting the new spending for the stimulus.” [Now Nancy Pelosi is requesting $3 trillion more in spending, with vast amounts targeted for blue states like CA, New York, and Illinois, not because of the coronavirus, but to bail them out from billions of accumulated debt because of mismanagement.]

In his article, Newman further discussed the push to globalize the monetary system in response to the coronavirus, relating how “the Deep State has been grooming the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for decades to become a global central bank. IMF boss Kristalina Georgieva has vowed to “boost global liquidity” using Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), the proto-global currency that would be issued by the would-be planetary central bank.

There is also the Deep State’s cashless-society agenda being pushed by totalitarians that is being justified by the establishment’s propagandists because cash is supposedly transmitting coronavirus.

Consider also the “ID2020” scheme backed by population-control zealot Gates of Microsoft and the Rockefeller Foundation. ID2020 is a “plot seeking to give everyone on Earth a “digital identity” that would follow them from birth to death. It would also keep track of all sorts of data, including health and vaccine information, enabling governments and globalists to keep people everywhere under control.”

The MIT technology “consists of nanocrystals called quantum dots.” This tattoo-type scheme would “remain under the skin where it emits near-infrared light that can be detected by a specially equipped smartphone.”

Media’s Weapon of Fake News

William F. Jasper, Senior Editor of The New American, in his article also appearing in the April 20 issue of The New American, Fanning Wuhan Virus Hysteria: Media’s Latest Anti-Trump Weapon, took Fake News to task:

“The fear mongering Fake News is truly the ‘enemy of the American people,‘ pushing a totalitarian agenda that is making us more and more like Communist China.

“For the globalists and the media leftists, the new coronavirus epidemic offers the perfect opportunity to weaponize fear for multiple gains:

1) to expand concentrate government control nationally;

2) to expand and concentrate government control globally; and

3) to destroy President Donald Trump, destroy the beginnings of the Trump economic recovery and to destroy the efforts that Trump has initiated to reverse decades of globalist programs.”

November’s election will decide the future of course of this nation. May Americans open their eyes and ears to what is happening before it’s too late!

Thorner/Ingold: If We Open, Will They Come?

A 1989 movie, Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner, told of a farmer who heard a voice telling him to build a baseball diamond in a field. “If you build it, he will come,” referring to Shoeless Joe Jackson, banned from baseball following the 1919 “Black Sox” scandal.

We’re all hearing voices clamoring for the country to open for business following nearly two months in pandemic shutdown. We are assured that if we do this, the economy will rebound like a home-run baseball. It is one thing to allow businesses and stores to resume operations, but recovery depends on consumers. The question is, “If we open, will they come?”

Since the end of February, there has been an unrelenting barrage of bad news regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. “There aren’t enough hospital beds or equipment to handle the number of patients expected from the disease.” “If exposed, you must isolate yourself for 14 days.” “The death toll keeps rising [it can’t go down].”

Behind the scenes, there was a morass of inter-agency rivalries between the CDC, FDA and NIH, to name a few. Every agency had the right to say “No” to any innovation and seemed to take that as a mandate rather than a responsibility. This culminated in orders to stay at home, stay inside, and leave only for essential business. Also advised was the wearing of face masks

Essential or arbitrary?

What constitutes “essential” is often capricious and arbitrary. Churches are not permitted to hold services, but abortion clinics are open for business. Beauty salons and barber shops are shuttered, yet marijuana shops are busy serving customers. Vape shops are closed, but liquor shops are open. No sitting on the beach is allowed in Ocean City, N.J., but walking is fine. If you go to a party you will go to jail, but if you are in jail you will be let out because of coronavirus.

In a turn of events of Orwellian nature, citizens have been urged to report alleged violators to the authorities. Police are likewise arresting citizens for violating coronavirus stay-at home mandates and for not following social distancing orders.

Governor Pritzker announced on Monday, May 11, 2020 that power boats will be allowed but with no more than two people on board. Asked if four members of the same household would be permitted. He answered, “No, you would need two boats. Apparently you can’t walk together either in a group.

More discouraging news

With a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, more discouraging news was added to the grim statistics which further undermines the confidence of anyone seeking to re-enter normal society.

We learn that silent, asymptomatic infections outnumber those with acute symptoms nearly 10 to 1, furthermore:

that everybody is a suspect until proven otherwise,
that having the disease does not necessarily impart immunity. You can catch it again and pass it on to other,
that the virus can persist for years (a wild guess) after you have recovered,
that if and when a vaccine is produced, it won’t be the panacea as promised,
that the news will reveal the vaccine is only 50% effective, because once 50% of the population is immune, the disease goes into idle mode, if not full remission.

What many governors, health experts, and the mainstream media fail to realize is that proposed paths to recovery are in many respects no recovery at all, and that the “cure” is often worse than the shutdown (or the disease) itself.

Imagine if the mainstream media gave this much coverage to a pandemic health danger in California where thousands of homeless drug addicts and the mentally ill are living in squalor on city streets, on rivers, and in parks throughout California. Hepatitis, typhus, typhoid fever, and threats of Bubonic Plague are real and do exist among the vast homeless population.

Dr. Fauci as the “grim reaper”

In that Dr. Fauci warned of ‘needless’ deaths if this nation opens up too early during his appearance in front of a Senate panel on Tuesday, May 12. 2020, does not bode well at a time when states are starting to reopen for business. Fauci’s warning was what the Left was waiting to hear.

Wisely refuted by President Trump was Fauci’s warning not to open schools in September. Trump noted coronavirus’ very minimal impact on children before stating that our nation’s schools and general economy must reopen in a safe, yet quick manner.

Fauci is wearing blinders in regard to COVID-19. Apparently delayed cancer treatments and organ transplants do not cause “needless suffering” in his mind. That’s another department’s problem. Let’s also not forget needless suffering due to financial hardships and job loss, not to mention increased incidents of domestic violence and suicides. How many heart attacks are suffered in private for fear of going to the ICU (or being denied access)?

When did risk go out of fashion?

As John Kass of the Chicago Tribune wrote in his commentary of May 8, 2020: Americans are too afraid of risk.What we need in this pandemic is balance. Excerpts from the end of of Kass’ commentary:

“For decades now, we’ve taught ourselves to fear so many things, even risk itself. Risk was once the very idea of America. Your parents or grandparents may have risked everything to get here, just so they could risk even more.
How many of us have already been pushed toward death by binge-eating while watching a steady shrieking stream of coronavirus fear porn on the TV news, and avoiding a visit to the doctor for fear of contracting the disease?

What I’m asking is that we at least think about something we’ve lost, besides jobs and our economic futures and the Bill of Rights: Balance.

All I see is the imposition of extremes. Those of us who want to get the country back to work are portrayed as selfish fools who Just Want People to Die.

And those who never want the lockdown to end are dismissed as fearful Coronavirus Karens, peering through their windows, calling the police if they see someone walking on the street without a mask.”

Will the American people seek balance and venture outside when their state reopens for business, or will they cower in fear to leave what they have been told are the safe confines of their homes.

Hopefully the American people will reject fear and opt for balance for the sake of saving this nation (and themselves) from hardship, emotional stress, financial destitute and ruin.

Propaganda is the most useful tool of those that desire to hold power over others, and for the global ruling class, this equates to power over all.

It is first necessary to create some sort of broad chaos or crisis in order to present a particular scenario meant to initiate fear. This will immediately trigger the herd mentality in the masses, and an escape toward safety will be sought. The next step once the herd is gathered is to first offer protection, and then to offer a solution to guarantee future safety. Once the herd accepts this premise, control by small outside forces becomes possible. As long as the propaganda continues and is accepted by the herd, which requires a continuance of fear, the more control that will evident.

This is exactly what has happened as of late due to a false pandemic called Covid-19. . . As freedom disappears, resistance will lessen, regardless whether the loss of individual freedom is accomplished by voluntary reaction or by force.

THE UNKNOWN FUTURE, May 4, 2020

“Most of us are looking forward to a post-Covid-19 America, but I’m very concerned that it won’t be quite as wonderful as we’re hoping.

For one thing, I assume that once the nation is open once again, the governors and state legislatures, not to mention Congress, will look to increase the tax rate in order to make up for all the lost revenue. It will even seem logical. After all, the bills didn’t disappear just because nobody was making money.

Well, not exactly nobody. The federal government has certainly been “making” money. They barely turned off the printing presses, as they ran off trillions of dollars in funny money, increasing inflation and deflating the value of the dollar. In other words, they came up with a permanent solution to a temporary problem, which also happens to be the classic definition of suicide.

The virus may have started in atheistic China, but the Democrats see it as a godsend. After all, it destroyed President Trump’s supercharged economy.

It’s history repeating itself. The Great Depression was blamed on Herbert Hoover, which gave FDR the opportunity to take advantage of the financial collapse to introduce Socialism to America by creating Social Security, a pyramid scheme that would have been illegal if it had been pulled off by an individual instead of by the federal government.

But FDR didn’t stop there. He also created several new departments and agencies, and expanded several that already existed, knowing that bureaucrats always support the government because the government literally supports them.

Roosevelt’s programs inevitably prolonged the Depression, but, for the Democrats, that was a small price to pay for the unfettered power they enjoyed.

By controlling the White House for 20 consecutive years, the Liberals not only got to enact all the laws they liked, they got to install all nine justices of the Supreme Court, ensuring that their laws would be deemed constitutional.

Looking back, it’s rather alarming to realize that a 21 year old Republican who voted for the first time in 1932 would have to wait until he was middle-aged in 1952 before he would ever get to help elect a president.

But as concerned as I am about what politicians will be up to going forward, I am even more fearful of an electorate who cowered under their beds, surrendering their civil rights, afraid of a virus that has killed so relatively few people…and generally only those who were elderly and/or had impaired immune system
Loss of Religious Liberty

Burt’s commentary of May 9, 2020, discussed the loss of religious liberty.

“Whenever you see those three religious leaders getting together, it’s either at an ecumenical conference or it’s a joke and they’re walking into a bar.

What I would like is to see them walking into is the Supreme Court and suing various fascistic governors for shutting down their churches and synagogues in violation of the First Amendment.

Nowhere in the Constitution is it written that although the State is prohibited from interfering with the free practice of religion, all bets are off in case there happens to be a virus floating around.

We’ve all heard that you can’t unring a bell, can’t shove toothpaste back in the tube and can’t eat your cake and have it, too. But I’m wondering if we’ll ever be able to get governors, mayors and the members of Congress to relinquish the police state powers they’ve been enjoying.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a long history of despots surrendering power once they’ve savored its intoxicating allure.

I mean, they’ve always been attracted to the bribes that go with handing out contracts to land developers and construction outfits. But this is a brand new high. It’s like moving on from marijuana to cocaine, or so I’ve heard.

As authoritarian as Governors Cuomo, Newsom, Whitmer and Hogan, have been, they may all have to take a backseat to Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker.

Although he has been a hardliner when it comes to forcing the people of his state to imprison themselves, when he was asked how it was that Mrs. Pritzker had not only ignored the stay-at-home order, but traveled to Florida, he climbed up on his high horse and proclaimed that where he came from, the families of politicians were off-limits. But, of course, nobody really cared about his wife’s travel plans, only about his hypocrisy. But he did sound a lot like Mafia dons in the past whose code of conduct meant they could kill each other with impunity, but not the wives and kids.

“My official duties have nothing to do with my family,” he blathered on. Right, they only have to do with everybody else’s family.

“So I’m just not going to answer that question. I consider it inappropriate and downright reprehensible.”

In other words, he and Queen Victoria are not amused.

Is there nobody in Illinois with the gumption to recall this self-important governor?”

About Cops and National Guard units

“It’s not just politicians who take an oath to defend the U.S. Constitution, so I’ve been delighted to see various sheriffs around the country refuse to carry out certain orders that conflict with the Second Amendment.

But why am I not seeing cops and members of the states’ National Guard units rebelling against illegal orders to shut down beaches and arrest ministers and congregations for holding religious services?

We’ve all grown used to seeing cops and soldiers doing the bidding of dictators in Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Hong Kong and Venezuela, but this isn’t Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Hong Kong or Venezuela, and it makes me sick to see our people in uniform blindly taking unconstitutional orders from petty tyrants.

Thorner: Law enforcement, bio-weapons and financial experts agree: Re-open America

An outstanding webinar conference took place April 30, 2020. The express purpose of the webinar was to open Maryland, as well as the whole nation, although comments made by the six featured speakers were apropos for all freedom loving Americans across this nation.

Jim Simpson, the host, is a successful businessman, economist, author, journalist and speaker, who got his start at the White House Office of Management and Budget under presidents Reagan, H.W. Bush and Clinton. Presently, Simpson is a candidate for U.S. Congress in Maryland’s District 2.  More about Simpson’s campaign can be found at https://www.jimsimpsonforcongress.com/about.

This author didn’t hesitate to register for Simpson’s webinar conference, which, upon watching on her computer, was deemed excellent and note-worthy to share with Illinois Review readers.

The webinar speakers are presented in order of appearance.

 

Freedom-loving sheriffs

The first two speakers featured via Zoom were two freedom-loving sheriffs, Sheriffs Richard Mack and Chuck Jenkins.

 

Sheriff Richard Mack founded the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) in 2011, an organization with a mission similar to Oath Keepers, which encourages members to refuse to enforce laws they believe are unconstitutional.  Sheriff Mack resides in Arizona.

Mack served as a career law enforcement officer, detective, sheriff, hostage negotiator, along with many other duties.  He led a fight with six other sheriffs challenging the constitutionality of the Brady (gun control) Bill and won at the Supreme Court.

Sheriff Mack had the following to say in expounding upon the shutdown as an issue of constitutionality: “The Constitution applies to what is going on today.  Never was there a time when you could suspend aspects of the Constitution and expect to get them back in the same form.”   As to orders being given, said Mack, “None of the orders should be followed by any peace officer whose duty it is to protect our God-given rights.”

Continued Sheriff Mack, “Liberty is being destroyed to get rid of the disease.   One principle of liberty for which liberty was founded was Freedom of Religion, yet we are seeing the arrest of pastors and gatherings of worshipers being prohibited.”

Suggested by Sheriff Mack was the purchase his book, The Victory for State Sovereignty, which deals with MACK / PRINTZ V. USA — the monumental Supreme Court case that restored the Tenth Amendment Abridged. Mack’s pocket-size booklet contains key verbiage from the official court record, with comments added, making it a  great companion to the pocket constitution.

 

Sheriff Jenkins presently serves as Sheriff of Frederick County, Maryland and 2nd Vice-President of the Maryland Sheriff’s Association.  A regular on Fox News, he has testified several times before the U.S. Congress on illegal immigration issues.

Jenkins understands his powers and duties.  In discussing the shutdowns instigated at the state level, Jenkins referred to those in law enforcement who focus attention on individuals not wearing masks and/or gatherings where too many people are assembled.

According to Sheriff Jenkins, many state orders have gone too far.  He has told his men not to arrest offenders, but to explain instead the rules that are meant to be followed.  Jenkins fears that much pre-bargaining of criminals will take place once the coronavirus scare ends, resulting from the backlog of cases now in the court system.

Paraphrasing Jenkins:  “With all the noise of the media and other sources, it’s impossible to know what to believe; nevertheless, it is necessary to open up this nation to prevent its collapse.  Jumping at the bit to take the place of the U.S. is China”

 

China’s biological warfare program

 

Clare Lopaz is founder and president of Lopez Liberty LLC and an author at The United West.  As a bio-weapons expert, Lopaz is a former CIA operations officer, former Center for Security Policy Vice President, and was national security advisor for Sen. Ted Cruz’ 2016 presidential campaign.

In explaining what we are up against, Ms. Lopaz suggested the following three books

1. “The Art of War”:  Written in China more than 2,000 years ago, Sun Tzu’s classic The Art of War is the first known study of the planning and conduct of military operations without fighting an actual war.

2. “Unrestricted Warfare: China’s Master Plan to Destroy America”:  A 1999 book written by two Chinese Communist Colonels in the People’s Liberation Army.  It’s a battle plan for waging war across a span of methods of operations that explicitly includes “ Bio-chemical warfare, among other things like diplomatic warfare, economic warfare, electronic warfare, and space warfare, instead of actual warfare to subdue an enemy.

3. “The Hundred-Year Marathon: China’s Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower”:  A fascinating read that puts “Unrestricted Warfare” into an historical context spanning millennia by Michael Pillsbury, Director of the Center on Chinese Strategy at the Hudson Institute.

As Lopaz related:  It was a mistake to welcome China into the world network of trade and nation states. In 1949 China initiated a hundred-year plan.  By 2049, China fully expects she will have taken the place of this nation as the world power, as explained in  The Hundred-Year Marathon by Michael Pillsbury.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has also laid out his own plan for world domination with a 30-year plan (2020–2050) to transform China.  Its goal is to surpass the US to become the world’s biggest global superpower.

Lopaz explained how China has one of the most important biological warfare programs in the world.  In 2014 the Obama administration funded a broad grant of 3.7 million to the ECO Health Alliance to research the coronavirus.  Funding was held up for a while by the Obama administration, but after 2017 somehow the funding resumed and instead went to the Wuhan Institution of Viology in China.  Trump was unaware of the funding.

There’s little doubt anymore that COVID-19 originated in China. It’s very possible – likely even – that the Wuhan coronavirus was not released into the world on purpose. But it’s also a fact that the Chinese Communist regime runs a sophisticated offensive biological weapons program.

Created was a hybrid that would never have developed naturally as a genetically engineered bioweapon. It was made more efficient to latch more easily onto to human cells.

Lopaz believes the hybrid bio weapon was released too soon, indicative of the clumsy way China dealt with the backlash through lying, coverups, and even shifting blame to this nation.  Bio defense experts know what the Chinese did at the lab; however, public health officials do not have a complete understanding of what the virus really is

A journalist at The Epoch Times, Joshua Philipp, has produced a documentary film called “ Tracking Down the Origin of Wuhan Coronavirus.”  It is put together in a way to be easily accessible to the average viewer.

County-based cost/benefit risk analysis to reopen state economies

 

Benjamin Nieuwsma is CEO & Founder of NAVIGO, Inc., a global risk analysis company which has supported customers across 95 countries.  Benjamin is the creator of the new RestartNOW tool that provides a county-based cost/benefit risk analysis for reopening economies from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As explained by Nieuwsma, RestartNOW was created to assist decision-makers in the effort to restart the economy in stages, quickly and safely, right down to the county level. It provides a myriad of information regarding the economic, social, and health impacts of the virus itself but more importantly, those same impacts accruing from the shutdown itself.  Currently available 18 states, including California,  Idaho,  Florida,  Maryland,  Nebraska,  New Mexico, and Texas, this tool needs to be developed for every state and expeditiously incorporated.

Nieuwsma’s emphasis was on his RestartNow for Maryland. There is data to assess each Maryland county. This data driven approach is aimed at saving lives, livelihoods, and Maryland’s economic future, further indicating how another month of economic shutdowns would increase suicide rate through the absence of economic security. Human connections are essential in preventing suicide, yet we tell people not to do mingle with others.

According to Nieuwsma, low risk counties should be opened up.  Protective measures are then important for those who are smokers, older people, or who have compromising health conditions.  A blanket shut down is insane and will possibly result in more deaths from suicide than from the virus itself.

Nieuwsma’s report was shared with Maryland legislators and President Trump.

No shortage of beef, only getting it processed for distribution

The final presentation was by rancher Mike Elmore of Wyoming.

Preceding his remarks was a video by Shad Sullivan, another rancher, titled, We are being forced to dump your food supply.

” Food producers across the country, from vegetable farmers to cattle ranchers, are being forced to destroy crops and animals on an unimaginable scale. This is not the result of the COVID-19 pandemic but rather its effects on monopolistic processing and packing plants, many of which have been shuttered due to localized outbreaks of the virus. Even worse, meat and produce is still being imported into the United States from poorly-regulated countries such as Namibia. If there is anything that makes the case for decentralizing food processing and packing plants in the United States, and implementing common-sense policies on food imports such as Country of Origin Labeling, it’s this current crisis.”

In commenting about the video, Elmore said: “We are plowing under vegetable crops from coast to coast. We are euthanizing millions of chickens. We are aborting sows and burying feeder pigs. We are dumping milk by the hundreds of thousands of gallons, and now they are preparing us to depopulate the fat cattle ready to harvest because of a bottleneck caused by the effects of COVID…”

Even worse, meat and produce are still being imported into the United States from poorly regulated countries such as Namibia. President Trump called for packing companies to go back to work, but how to accomplish this. Social distancing can’t happen in a slaughterhouse. Workers will not go back to work, who are mostly Hispanics and refugees who work for almost nothing, if they are afraid of dying. Then too, the packing companies and the workers are also beholden to unions and the progressive Left.

Thorner/Ingold: CNN’s attempt to undermine Trump through a Fauci interview

A headline in a CNN report on May 5th, 2020 read:  “Anthony Fauci just crushed Donald Trump’s theory on the origins of the coronavirus.”

Stated in the CNN report: “For weeks now, President Donald Trump has been making the case that the coronavirus originated not in nature but in a lab in Wuhan, China. He said late last week that he had a ” high degree of confidence” that was what happened (although he didn’t specify why he felt that way) and on Sunday night in a Fox News Town Hall offered cryptically “something happened.”

The CNN article then mentions Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, wherein CNN cites Fauci as perhaps the single most prominent doctor in the world on infectious disease.

As to Anthony Fauci’s crushing blow on Donald Trump’s theory on the origins of the coronavirus, the article referred to Fauci’s interview with National Geographic, where Fauci was definitive about the origins of the virus.

According to Dr. Fauci: “If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated … Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species.”

Fauci also cautioned against the rush of states to reopen.

Accuracy of CNN report questioned

There are several problems with this report, starting with the fact that Dr. Fauci has a vested interest in the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV). It is probably true that the COVID-19 virus or it’s genesis was endemic in bats. Due to natural immunities, various cononaviruses, including SARS and its variant COVID-19, are hosted by bats, and occasionally mutate to the point they can infect humans. The similarity between COVID-19 and infections found in bats has been confirmed independently in various western laboratories. This is the point at which Dr. Fauci stops his narrative, but there is more to the story. Much more.

One of WIV’s objectives is to identify animal-borne viruses which can potentially infect humans. Part of this research is called “Gain-of-Function”, which explores ways in which the infectiousness of a virus can increase, either naturally or by artificial stimulation. The ostensible reason is to develop treatments and vaccines which will be effective even if the disease mutates to a more virulent form in nature.

This does not mean the virus is “synthetic,” even though its properties have been enhanced synthetically. Nor does it mean COVID-19 was developed as a biological weapon.  However, the only distinction between epidemiological research and bio-weapon development is intent, not process. One thing is certain. The virus did not spread from bats, which live over 200 miles from the center if infection in Wuhan and were not present in the “wet market” blamed by the Chinese government.

Assuming COVID-19 was released from a civilian laboratory accidentally, through careless handling and isolation, it could spread very quickly. Early estimated of its virulence were that one person could infect nearly 6 others, with a latency of about 2.5 days. That means over 4000 people could be infected as a consequence of one source in the course of one month, and each of those could infect another 4000, ad infinitum.

Epidemiological data is slowly trickling in (collection being largely neglected by those in charge) which indicates 9 out of 10 infections go without symptoms. Furthermore, between 20% and 50% of some populations tested show evidence of silent infections, over 10 times the number of acute cases requiring hospitalization.

Most of the US infections probably occurred between the middle of January and the end of February, while there was considerable traffic between the US and Wuhan China – over 400,000 persons. Little notice was taken of its inroads in the US until March 1, and stay-at-home policies were not widely enacted until March 16. The effect of “social separation” is equivocal, since it is likely that COVID_19 was a “community borne” disease before the doors were shut on the economy.

Behavior of the Chinese government subsequent to the explosion of COVID-19 in Wuhan is suspicious. Travel in and out of the Wuhan province and other parts of China was shut down early in January. On the other hand, international travel to and from Wuhan continued unabated until the US shut it down at the end of January; Europe followed suit in the next week or so.

Were the Chinese simply maintaining a “business as usual” posture, trying to save face, or expressing ulterior motives?  Do not discount “Saving Face” as a prime motivator. Retirement for disgraced public officials in China does not come with a golden parachute. The practice of exploiting a crisis for political gain is not exactly unknown in the US.

Is it any wonder why The White House has blocked Anthony Fauci’s testifying in front of a House Committee?  Such an appearance would indeed by “counterproductive”, for Fauci seems intent on establishing policy that is not consistent with the Trump administration.

Fauci reportedly will be allowed to appear at a later Senate hearing.

Thorner: Absentee ballots are notorious for election cheating

At its core, people cheat in elections to further their preferred causes or to advance their own careers.

Unfortunately, unless it’s a Republican committing the fraud, many liberal politicians and activists routinely insist that voter fraud is a figment of conservatives’ imaginations—or they assert that it’s so rare it’s inconsequential.

“Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.” That quote isn’t from President Trump, who criticized mail-in voting after Wisconsin Democrats tried and failed to change an election at the last minute into an exclusively mail-in affair.

It’s also the conclusion of the bipartisan 2005 report of the Commission on Federal Election Reform, chaired by former President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker III.

Fraud, not a figment of imagination 

Concerns about vote-buying have a long history in the U.S. They helped drive the move to the secret ballot, which U.S. states adopted between 1888 and 1950.

Across the nation, hundreds of counties have more registered voters than residents. In June of 2019 California began a process of removing a staggering 5 million inactive registrations from its rolls, but only after it was sued by Judicial Watch.

Impossible to deny is that individuals are exploiting vulnerabilities in the election process. The Heritage voter fraud database contains 1,217 proven instances of fraud.  That list isn’t even a comprehensive one.

These 1,217 cases, most likely only the tip of the iceberg, range from ineligible noncitizens casting illegal ballots to corrupt politicians buying votes and rigging their own elections.

Between 2012 and 2018, 28.3 million mail-in ballots remain unaccounted for, according to data from the federal Election Assistance Commission. The missing ballots amount to nearly one in five of all absentee ballots and ballots mailed to voters residing in states that do elections exclusively by mail.

States and local authorities simply have no idea what happened to these ballots since they were mailed – and the figure of 28 million missing ballots is likely even higher because some areas in the country, notably Chicago, did not respond to the federal agency’s survey questions. This figure does not include ballots that were spoiled, undeliverable, or came back for any reason.

Although there is no evidence that the millions of missing ballots were used fraudulently, the Public Interest Legal Foundation, which compiled the public data provided from the Election Assistance Commission, says that the sheer volume of them raises serious doubts about election security.

Coronavirus a force to change how we vote?

During the coronavirus, with its extraordinary upending of our regular life, some want to use this crisis to permanently change how we vote in this country. We are reminded of the left’s slogan, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

According to The Daily Caller, a growing chorus of Democrats are demanding that the entire U.S. vote by mail in November because of the coronavirus pandemic. Election experts say this could open the door to rampant fraud and mismanagement.  Meanwhile, the Republican Party, including the President Trump, stands largely against such a measure.

President Trump is right to be worried about elections conducted entirely by mail.   As the president said in a tweet, we do need absentee ballots for “many senior citizens, military, and others who can’t get to the polls on Election Day.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi is looking at a future round of coronavirus response legislation to fund Democrats’ plan to force Americans to accept mail-it-in elections.  As Pelosi said in an interview on MSNBC, “much more than” $400 million will be in the next bill so that “every person registered to vote” will receive a ballot at home.

Experts, however, are warning that a mail-in voting system called for by Nancy Pelosi for the November elections would be massively susceptible to fraud.

As Hans A. von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation and a former commissioner of the Federal Election Commission, told the Daily Caller News Foundation:

“Voter registration rolls are in notoriously bad shape all over the country. State governments typically do a poor job of cleaning up their voter rolls by properly taking off names of people who have moved or died.”

“By simply mailing every voter a ballot on the voter list, you will ultimately have a large number of people receiving ballots that aren’t theirs. One of the main reasons is the ballots are voted on outside of the supervision of election officials meaning a grandson can fill out the grandmother’s ballot.”

All-mail jurisdictions such as Oregon like to brag about the supposed “security” of their systems, which consists of almost nothing other than a rapid, superficial signature comparison.

As Melody Rose, an assistant professor of political science at Portland State University, told the Los Angeles Times: “I don’t have much faith in that process. I can forge my husband’s signature perfectly.”

Rose conducted a survey of one county, Washington County, outside Portland. Five percent of registered voters admitted that other people marked their ballots, and 2.4% said someone else signed their ballots.

Rose suspected the actual number was higher, given that most people would not want to admit to being “party to a crime.” That would mean that tens of thousands of mail-in ballots are being cast in Oregon by individuals other than the registered voter.

Is it any wonder that absentee ballots are the tools of choice of election fraudsters because they are voted outside the supervision of election officials, making it easier to steal, forge, or alter them, as well as to intimidate voters.

Conclusion

As we face the critical election this year, 2020, we do well to stay on guard against any means from anybody to steal our vote. Veteran journalist Bob Knight has written stellar book, Liberty on the Brink, on the left’s efforts to falsify elections.

In his book Mr. Knight presents an example of one of the latest techniques the left is using to steal elections that is rife with potential voter fraud, ballot harvesting.  Where it is legal, people can go out and collect ballots from people you’re not related to.

As Knight pointed out, on election night 2018, in normally conservative Orange County, California, several Republicans were leading—one of them by 14%. And then, said Knight: “Thousands of ballots came in [later] that were harvested by volunteers, usually union leaders. That swept the Democrats to power in all congressional districts in Orange County and the county overnight became a Democratic county.

Although the coronavirus may alter some of how voting is done in this critical election year, it should not be the means by which the left attempts to steal our vote.

As a warning, Knight notes the seriousness of the threat of voter fraud, a warning that must be taken seriously by all voters in November:  “The left is trying to take over the country and impose a socialist state on America. If they win this time around, I’m not sure we’ll ever get the American freedom we’re used to back.”

Whenever voter fraud occurs, it undermines the electoral process for everyone.
