Right Nation 2010, an unprecedented gathering of patriots in Chicago focused on the goal of victory in November

September 20, 2010

There have been many reports about the unprecedented event that took place on Saturday, September 18, at the Sears Center Arena in Hoffman Estates — Right Nation 2010.    Obvious in the mainstream Chicagoland reporting of Right Nation 2010 were tones of liberal bias, not surprising as conservative Republican sponsors and participants from across the nation had converged on President Obama’s hometown with a combined purpose of forging a winning coalition in November through sharing the RIGHT principles in front of the RIGHT people to reclaim the Midwest and forever change the political landscape.

The host of Right Nation 2010 was Cisco Coto, well-known in Illinois as a conservative radio personality who hosts the Cisco Cotto Show on WLS-AM 890 every weekday morning from 9 – 11 a.m.

Rev. Issac Hayes delivered the opening prayer.  He is challenging Jesse Jackson,  Jr. in U.S. House District 2.

Two large screens at both sides of the stage allowed all to view the images of speakers wherever seated in the Sears Center Arena.  The screens were also used to show film clips and to display quotes from patriots of times gone past.  The back drop of the arena’s stage was appropriately festooned in red, white and blue.

This quote from Ronald Reagan was especially appropriate for those in attendance at Right Nation 2010:

“We as Americans, have the capacity now, as we have had in the past, to do whatever needs to be done to preserve this last and greatest bastion of freedom.  On you depend the fortunes of America.”

I had the honor of being one of ten individuals selected to be on “Blogger Row” seated on the floor of the Sears Arena with full media access to the Right nation 2010 Convention.  Given my role, I was likewise afforded access to the Media Room for interviews with Right Nation 2010 speakers.

It was during my interview time in the Media Room with Andrew Brietbart that I heard about his scuffle with 300 protesters dressed in religious drag outside the entrance to the Sears Center Arena when arriving for his speaking gig at Right Nation 2010.  The “Stop the Hate” and “Glenn Beck lies” accusations were soon rendered ineffective when Mr. Brietbart spoke words of truth back to the protesters, but not before Andrew Breitbard had been spit upon and called a homosexual by SEIU members who were sent by bus to protest.  As to be expected, the same protesters, having accused the Tea Party members of being AstroTurf, were guilty of the same.

Another interview period was spent with Herman Cain who is best know as the former chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza (May it not be considered  politically incorrect to mention that Herman Cain is a black, conservative Republican.).  Herman Cain is thinking of running for president in 2012 and will make the final decision in 2011.

The line-up of speakers was quite impressive.  Glenn Beck, as a conservative icon, drew the most attention.  I’ve chosen key points to report about each of the featured speakers at Right Nation 2010.  For the sake of brevity I will skip Andrew Brietbart and Harman Cain

Tim Phillips,  president of the state-based organization, Americans for Prosperity, with its national headquarters in Washington, D.C., told of President Obama’s recent attack on Americans for Prosperity for an ad that raised the hackles of Obama.  Phillips’ emphasized what is at stake in the November elections — our freedom and the kind of country we want to leave our grandchildren.

Dick Army, as House Majority leader (1995-2003) and one of the engineers of the “Republican Revolution” of the 1990’s, told how liberty is the greatest gift of all given by the Lord God Almighty, that it is the duty of government to protect that liberty, that liberty can be lost when a nation becomes too big “for its britches,” and that those in attendance were tasked with taking our nation back from our greedy government.

Phil Kerpen, a conservative policy analyst in Washington, D.C., and policy director at Americans for Prosperity, directed his message at  two “accomplishments” of the Obama administration,  both of which are poison to this nation:  ObamaCare and its financial regulation policies.  Kerpen expressed worry about the “Lame Duck” session after the November elections when Democrats, using the votes of defeated Democrats, might attempt to pass “Cap and Trade,” Card Check, and the largest tax hike in the history of this country.

Peter Hoekstra, a conservative member of Congress from Michigan, spoke words which resonated with the assembled patriots, that the spending must stop and the messing in our lives, that legislators can’t take us for granted any more, and that legislators need to listen and if not the people will defeat government.  Hoekstra reminded attendees that it was the people who said “no” to housing Gitmo terrorists in Michigan and Illinois, resulting in Gitmo remaining open and in reversing other national security issues.

John Fund, an American political journalist and a conservative columnist for the website of the Wall Street Journal, proclaimed that we are the voice of the new politics and of becoming involved in the upcoming elections because it’s too important not too.  Fund spoke in detail about Republicans taking charge two times before in 1978 and 1994 and of making  2010 the third out of three times.

Jenny Beth Martin, as National Coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots and the National Co-Coordinator for the 9/12 march on D.C., spoke about what our Founding Fathers risked to give us what we enjoy in this nation today.

Bill Brady, as candidate for governor, welcomed all to the “New Illinois” in November.  He told of energizing the free-market system to bring  jobs to Illinois, of balancing the budget without raising taxes on families and businesses, and of imposing term limits.  Brady promised that if we elect the right people to office, better days ahead will folllow.

Aaron Schock, a congressman in U.S. House District 18, and the first member elected to Congress born in the 1980’s, applauded the Republican U.S. House leadership for rallying every Republican to vote against the Democrat’s massive stimulus bill.  Schock stated that “more people believe Elvis is still alive than jobs were produced by the stimulus bill.”   The “silver lining,” according to Aaron Schock, is that we still live in a country where something can be done to reverse destructive policies and legislation.

Pat Brady, the Republican State Party Chairman, spoke of wanting to restore honor to Illinois.  Brady mentioned getting rid of Democrat House Speaker Michae Madigan as being paramount to making Illinois a state to be proud of once again.

Glenn Beck, the much anticipated conservative icon, with passion and enthusiasm and using his ever-present blackboard, emphasized the importance of values and principles.  Beck spoke of restoring three entities which were destroyed through years of progressive policies.  They were 1) Churches, 2) History, and 3) our Constitution, all of which can be restored again through the restoration of Faith, Hope and Charity.  Beck told the patriots gathered that they should not feel uncomfortable talking about God, for religious services are held one day of the week, but God is with us seven days a week, 365 days a year.

I would be remiss not to mention the individual who introduced Glenn Beck to the Right Nation 2010 audience, singer-songwriter Kevin Chalfant, who proudly and for the first time made the announcement that he was one of us.  Prior to introducing Glenn Beck, Mr. Chalfant performed a song he wrote specifically for the Right Nation 2010 gathering, “All for One.”  Kevin Chalfant’s inspirational song can be downloaded at Allforonesong.com.

In what was an awesome experience, during Kevin’s singing of “All for One,” hundreds in the audience went ahead and downloaded “All for One” on their cello phones and proceeded to wave their activated phones back and forth to produce points of cell phone lights throughout the Sears Center Arena.

A Straw Poll was conducted among Right Nation 2010 attendees.  The results of the Straw Poll will be announced on Monday, September 20th at 10 a.m. and will  be posted at www.RightNation2010.com.
